🐢🐢 This time of year has arrived - sea turtle nesting season! Every day we get calls about the sea turtle with the E1 on the carapace and we receive the logical questions about what is happening with that particular sea turtle. This is Evdokia, who was seriously injured last August on her rear flippers and carapace by a boat propeller. After being hospitalized, she was released and despite her disability managed to survive the whole winter. About a month ago, she appeared near the coast and we brought Evdokia to our station for a reassessment. This Little Bittern (Ixobrychus minutus) was found by a resident of Apollonas on Naxos Island. The wild bird was transferred by the Coast Guard boat to Naxos town where we received it. The Little Bittern suffers from dislocated and fractured leg and is under medical treatment at our first aid care station. In the last month, 3 baby Hedgehogs have reached our station from different parts of Naxos, each struggling with their own issues.
