Swimmers at Mikri Vigla alerted us to a “possibly alive” sea turtle floating in the bay. The animal was brought ashore by members of Naxos Wildlife Protection Association, where it was confirmed to be dead. A beautiful young Common Buzzard was lucky amidst her misfortune on Mylopotas Beach on the island of Ios. 📍 A sick sea turtle has been reported approximately 10 km northwest of Oia (Santorini), at coordinates 36.521068, 25.288753. A shocking incident has left us truly speechless. 🌊🐢 World Sea Turtle Day 🐢🌊 ~ Baby Scops Owl Rescue ~ This photograph was taken two days ago by a visitor of Naxos and shows a Black-winged Stilt chick that never had the chance to fly, never had the opportunity to make its first migration alongside its parents. During the past few weeks, our first aid station has become a nursery for some of Naxos' youngest wildlife residents. Orphaned hoglets Sonic and Flame arrived weighing just 90 grams each, two Little Owl siblings were rescued from the middle of the road, one suffering from a fractured leg, and a tiny pipistrelle bat was found alone on a balcony during the daytime.
