What to do if you find a wild animal…
- If you suspect a wild animal is sick or injured, even if you are not sure, call the respective Wildlife Rescue center as soon as possible.
- Do not touch and do not speak loud close to the wild animal as it will get scared and anxious with unpleasant results.
- In case you are on Naxos island, call NAXOS WILDLIFE PROTECTION at once at +30 697 6797070 or here.
- In the area of the Cyclades, if you find a sea turtle on the shore or floating in the sea unable to dive, call NAXOS WILDLIFE PROTECTION at +30 697 6797070 or here and/or the respective island’s Port Police at once.
How can we help the SEA TURTLES
HOW CAN YOU HELP THE SEA TURTLES OF NAXOS AND THE CYCLADES…
- If you come across a sick/injured sea turtle on shore, call Naxos Wildlife Protection (+30 697 6797070), ARCHELON Rescue Center (+30 6941 511 511) or the local Port Police (for Naxos Port Police call at +30 22850 22300) immediately.
- If you come across a sea turtle floating on the surface unable to dive, call us immediately for further instructions.
- If you get the opportunity to see a sea turtle, keep a safe distance from it, do not disturb it, do not touch it and, by no means, do you feed it.
Remember sea turtles are wild animals and any human contact could cause behavioural and health issues to them, but could also jeopardize our own safety. - If you see traces of a sea turtle on shore, or sea turtle hatchlings, call Naxos Wildlife Protection or the local Port Police immediately.
What to do if you see a trapped wild bird…
- All wild birds are protected by law. Their capture and captivity is prohibited.
- If you witness a wild bird in a cage, call the Authorities or NAXOS WILDLIFE PROTECTION at +30 697 6797070 or here at once.
